Albuquerque man arrested for attempting to support terrorist organization, ISIS

    ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (KOAT) — The Department of Justice announced Friday an arrest of an Albuquerque man for allegedly attempting to provide material support for the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, a terrorist organization.

Forty-five-year-old Herman Leyvoune Wilson was indicted by a federal grand jury and will stay in custody. Wilson was also charged with attempting to obstruct, influence and impede an official proceeding.

Wilson will be in custody at least until his arraignment hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

Wilson was exposed by a pair of individuals who discussed their relationship with him regarding the terrorist group, ISIS. Jaylin Molina and Kristopher Matthews pleaded guilty for providing ISIS material support in Texas.

Molina and Matthews admitted to Wilson’s role in pushing the pair toward ISIS ideology, according to the FBI Albuquerque Field Office. Matthews and Molina were arrested for 20 and 18 years in prison.

Wilson faces up to 20 years in prison for each count. The FBI Albuquerque Field Office is investigating the case.
