Fire burns kitchen at Palm Desert apartment

Riverside County Fire crews responded to a fire at a senior housing apartment complex in Palm Desert Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters said it happened just after 1 p.m. at the Carlos Ortega Villas in the 77000 block of Avenue of the States.

Crews said the fire was in a kitchen in one of the complex’s units.

Firefighters put out the flames in about 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.
