Fresno Police try to identify woman who claimed to be a mermaid

The Fresno Police Department is trying to identify a woman, currently referred to as Jane Doe, who claimed to be a mermaid when police found her walking by herself Tuesday in Friant, California.

Officers said she was only wearing a black sports bra while she walked in the middle of Millerton Road, about a mile south of Table Mountain Road. When they talked to her near the intersection of Millerton Road and Brighton Crest, across from the Eagle Spring Golf & Country Club, she only answered, “I don’t know” to most questions.

The Fresno Police Department posted the advisory on its Facebook Page.

Authorities said she also claimed to be a mermaid and “Joanna”. When police found her, she was mostly naked, and she was wet. She told police she had been in the water.

Police estimate that she’s between the ages of 16 and 30. She is either white or Hispanic, with brown hair, brown eyes. She’s 5’4″ and weights about 150 pounds.

If you have information about who she is, you’re asked to call the Fresno Police Department Tip Hotline at 559-621-2455.
