According to Deputy Chief Jim Henson of the Desert Hot Spring Police Department, a DHSPD officer noticed that Marquez was exhibiting suspicious activity. The officer attempted to pull Marquez over but Marquez wouldn’t stop. The officer intentionally ended the pursuit over concerns of public safety because Marquez was driving erratically.

A CHP helicopter later spotted the truck and took over the pursuit, according to authorities.

Marquez allegedly threw a gun out of the truck near Stater Bros on Washington Street in Palm Desert and continued driving. Marquez bailed from the truck at Golf Center Parkway and Terra Lago in Indio. The truck ended up striking a traffic light.

A woman who was allegedly in the truck with Marquez has been detained, along with Marquez, for car theft and evading arrest.
