Man identified in deadly landscaping truck collision
On Thursday authorities identified a worker who was killed when a truck rolled over him while he was performing landscaping work at a Palm Springs apartment complex Wednesday afternoon.
The Palm Springs Police Department was called to the deadly collision in the 2100 block of Casitas Way at 1:35 p.m. The coroner identified the victim as 36-year-old Elenilson Rodriguez Garcia of Palm Springs.
Officers said the initial investigation indicates that the “truck may have inadvertently ran over Garcia after being parked”. However, the circumstances of the deadly collision remain under investigation.
The landscaping company is called Pro Landscaping and it’s based out of Thousand Palms. The company has been operating in the Coachella Valley for 30 years.
Garcia was lying on the ground next to the parked landscaping truck when officers arrived to the scene Wednesday afternoon. Officers said it’s unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the deadly collision at this time.
The area in the 2100 block of Casitas Way was closed while authorities were at the scene Wednesday afternoon. KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will deliver updates as the investigation continues.
