All roads reopen in Palm Springs after windy conditions

UPDATE 8:45 a.m.: Police have reopened Indian Canyon Drive through the Whitewater crossing in and out of Palm Springs and Gene Autry Trail. All roads are now open in Palm Springs after windy conditions caused closures over the weekend.

UPDATE 5:13 a.m.: Vista Chino at the wash has re-opened to traffic. Indian Canyon and Gene Autry remain closed.

All three roads through the Whitewater Wash remain closed, according to PSPD. Police say the roads will be reassessed at 5 a.m. Stay with News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 for the latest updates on air.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Three roads in Palm Springs have closed due to the weather.

Palm Springs Police have closed North Gene Autry Trail at the wash between Salvia Road and East Via Escuela and Vista Chino at the wash between Clubhouse View Drive and Carmela Drive this afternoon.

It’s the second and third streets in Palm Springs to close today, June 11. North Indian Canyon Drive at the wash was closed early this morning due to low visibility by the sand.

There was also a rollover accident on Gene Autry Trail just south of the 10 freeway this afternoon.

Palm Springs Police advises drivers to use alternative routes in the meantime.
