According to police, a man pointed a gun at the employee and demanded his wallet. When the victim did not comply, the suspect allegedly beat the man with his fists. The employee was able to run away but not before dropping his computer bag with his belongings. The employee was treated in the emergency room and is recovering according to a hospital spokesman. Meanwhile, the hospital is stepping up security to help keep employees safe.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 25 and 35 years old, 6 feet 1 inch tall and 180 pounds with short black hair.

“The safety of our employees and patients is of the highest priority for us,” said Richard Ramhoff, Director of Marketing for Desert Regional Medical Center. “We have increased our internal security patrols in our parking areas, and we are reviewing further measures to ensure safety. Our hope is that this instance is an isolated one, and we continue to cooperate with police.”

Meanwhile, police are continuing to search for the suspect, and if you have any information call Palm Springs Police or Crimestoppers 341-STOP.
