Congressman Ruiz shares message ahead of congressional baseball game

Congressman Raul Ruiz shared a message on social media ahead of the congressional baseball game that takes place Thursday night. His message comes after the shooting that occurred at the GOP congressional team’s baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia early Wednesday morning.

Congressman Ruiz said, “we are going to come together to symbolize that we should not live in fear and that we should display unity. It’s not ok to turn the arguments into hatred and to attack one another violently, so this is a civil unity.”

Congressman Ruiz went on to say, “We are going to wear Rep. Scalise’s hometown university -LSU- colors at some point of the game. I’m a little nervous because it’s going to be the most watched congressional baseball game in the history of congressional baseball games. But i have the desert heat inside and I’m ready to go.”

Congressman Ruiz played second base at the congressional baseball game Thursday night and he led off for the Democrats. Ruiz scored the first run of the game as the Democrats won 11 to 2. Ruiz spoke with KESQ / CBS Local 2 after the game.
