20-year-old Indio man dies days after rollover crash
The California Highway Patrol released more information about a rollover crash that turned out to be deadly, days after the victim was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center. The deadly crash occurred on Friday, June 16 at about 11:30 p.m.
The 20-year-old victim was identified as Eduardo Ruano of Indio. He was driving a Chevrolet Camaro westbound on I-10, west of Golf Center Parkway when he allowed the car to travel to the right onto the shoulder of the road when it overturned down an embankment, according to the CHP’s release.
Ruano was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
Officer Mike Radford said Ruano sustained major injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center that night. Ruano died from his injuries at the hospital on Wednesday, June 21.
Authorities said an 18-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash and was also taken to Desert Regional Medical Center.
Officers continue to investigate the rollover. Officer Radford said it’s unknown at this time if drugs and/or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
