Car safety reminders during dangerous heat wave

Companies that specialize in air conditioning maintenance are keeping very busy during this summer heat wave.

People who have had their units sit for a long time are finding there can be problems when the air conditioner is running nonstop for several days.

Local mechanics recommend taking a look at your radiator fluids as well as the vents that lead to the radiator, sometimes the desert sand can clog that ventilation and your car won’t operate like it should an could overheat.

Another thing to take a look at is your tires.

Make sure they aren’t worn out and have the right amount go tire pressure. Scorching hot roads are notorious for blowouts, that could leave you stuck on the side of the road in the heat either changing a tire or waiting for help.

That’s why it’s a good idea to have an expert check the rubber before you hit the road for a long trip.

“Our car is basically our shield we are driving out there and it is the only thing that is protecting us and we are going super fast speeds so I wanted to make sure I was safe,” said local resident Stephanie Marroquin, while getting her tires checked.

Just in case your car does break down you want to make sure that you have a fully charged cell phone and some cold water with you if you are taking a long trip.

If there is anything that feels weird or you notice the temperature gauge in your car is going past that half way point you should have it checked out.
