Tow truck drivers ask folks to ‘slow down and pull over’
Tow truck drivers gathered Saturday morning to make their voices heard.
Earlier this week a new safety campaign to remind drivers to “slow down and pull over” when they see tow truck drivers working on the side of the road.
“It’s never safe out there. The other night we did a DUI tow and we almost got hit by a semi,” said Ernie Daniel, a tow truck driver.
“I got hit already, I got hit by a mirror when I was on the road. It’s never safe,” said Raymond Gaxiola, a tow truck driver.
One tow truck operator is killed every six days working on the side of a freeway. Now, local drivers are hoping to spread awareness about the “move over law” that includes tow trucks.
Drivers lined up as they prepared to take their campaign on the road, driving down I-10 past their billboard drawing attention to the cause.
