House fire in Thousand Palms displaces six people
Firefighters battle house fire in Thousand Palms Monday evening.
The fire was reported at 6:53 p.m. in the 30200 block of Monte Vista Way, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The house was “well involved” with fire when the first engine company arrived, Hagemann said.
According to a firefighter on scene, five adults and one child were displaced due to the fire. The Red Cross is working to help them find a place to stay.
Two rabbits and a turtle were rescued from the fire. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to just the one home. Overall the fire caused $100,000 in damage.
A knockdown time was not immediately available.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
