JOHNSTON, Iowa (KCCI) — A Waukee woman faces an OWI charge after a deadly motorcycle crash in Johnston.

The Iowa State Patrol says a man is dead following a crash just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Johnston. The crash happened at the intersection of Northwest Beaver Drive and 70th Avenue.

Investigators say a motorcycle driver, 33-year-old Landon Crabtree of Knoxville, was killed in the crash.

Troopers say Makenna Streff, 25, of Waukee, turned onto 70th Avenue. Streff claims that she believed that Crabtree had a stop sign at the intersection he was approaching, so she turned in front of him. Crabtree, who did not have a stop sign, struck Streff’s vehicle.

Court records show she had a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit.

The crash remains under investigation.
