March Coachella Valley Spotlight recipient: Hidden Harvest
March’s Coachella Valley Spotlight Recipient is Hidden Harvest.
Hidden Harvest is a nonprofit that helps reduce hunger and improve health in the Coachella Valley. They do this by rescuing fresh local produce and delivering it to those in need.
The Senior Markets serve approximately 1,500 low income seniors around Coachella Valley each month. The remainder of produce is distributed to more than 55,000 people a month, with help from FIND Food Bank.
The $25,000 grant from the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation will go towards helping implement the services they provide. They have 160 mobile pantries, two full-time drivers, several volunteers and office staff. They have refrigerated trucks, a warehouse and refrigerated storage. The grant will help keep up maintenance on their trucks and coolers as well.
