(CNN) — Global oil and US gas prices are climbing again after an escalation in hostilities between the United States and Iran. Prices eased over the summer after the United States and Iran signed a peace plan to end the war in June, but an escalation in military action in late August reversed that decline.

US gas prices are back above an average $4 a gallon. In June, after the peace plan was signed, gasoline prices dropped below the $4 threshold for the first time since March 30, according to the AAA, but that trajectory has now changed course.

The US national average diesel price hit a record high a this week, according to AAA data.

See the average price of a gallon of gasoline in each state and how it has changed since the beginning of the US-Israeli war with Iran.

Gasoline prices reached their highest level in more than three years in the early stages of the war with Iran, before dropping off after the June peace plan was signed. Prices have begun to climb again amid renewed hostilities in recent weeks.
