Riverside Co. Al-Qaida Member Issues New Threat

A former Riverside County resident who has been the English voice of Al-Qaida in several recent videotapes has a new message being broadcast on the internet.

Adam Gadahn says in a tape released over the weekend that the organization will target American embassies outside the U.S.

He effectively singles out missions and diplomats in the Middle East.

“We shall continue to target you at home and abroad just as you target us at home and abroad,” Gadahn says in the video.

He is the first American charged with treason since World War II.

Gadahn also calls for American blood to be shed in the name of Islam.

It’s as sentiment countless Muslim don’t share.

“I’m disappointed that someone such as him gets so much attention,” says Muslim American Adam Costello. “He basically continues to say the same thing over and over again.

“Someone took a twisted ideology. He was young and impressionable and they filled his head with certain thoughts and he went along with it.”

This is the second time in two months Gadhan has appeard on video.

The last time, Gadahn demanded the U.S. withdrawal of troops from the Middle East.

Many Muslims believe it’s this kind of negative publicity that makes living in the western world especially America quite a challenge.

“We face a constant struggle to defend our religion in the appropriate way and deal with all this ‘Islama-phobia’. It’s not easy being a Muslim these days.”

Gadhan was indicted last October on charges of treason and supporting terrorism. Authorities are still trying to figure his wherabouts.
