A Twentynine Palms man’s bail is set at $1 million after being arrested last week for the death of his 2-and-a-half month old child, authorities say.
Palm Springs Police arrested 20-year-old Alex Phelps who is accused of causing the injuries that led to his child’s death.
Officers say the victim was hospitalized June 13th with brain injury and bleeding. The child died three day later at Loma Linda Medical Center.
An autopsy later found that the child died of blunt impact injuries to the head.
Those results and a criminal investigation led to the arrest of the child’s father Phelps last week.
Officers say the alleged incident happened on North Sunrise Way in Palm Springs.
Phelps is currently in the Palm Springs Jail.
