Another Hot Day; Relief In Sight?

The inland valleys of Riverside County will bake under searing temperatures and high humidity levels today in what forecasters say will be the final day of a weeklong heat wave.

The mercury will top out in the low 90s in the mountains and at 112 in the Coachella Valley. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in both regions this afternoon, forecasters said.

A low-pressure system along the Southern California coast will gradually move inland and bring a cooling trend tomorrow and Thursday. Near-seasonal temperature levels are expected toward the end of the week, according to the NWS.
