#1 Pick Oden To Miss Rookie NBA Season

(AP) – The Portland Trail Blazers are facing the prospect of playing the 2007-2008 without the NBA’s top draft choice in uniform. Greg Oden had surgery on his right knee Thursday after doctors found cartilage damage during an exploratory procedure.

The 7-foot center is expected to be on crutches for up to eight weeks. The team says his recovery likely will take six to 12 months.

The Blazers took Oden with the number-one pick after he played just one season at Ohio State. He helped lead the Buckeyes to the national championship game by averaging 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds.
