Man Found Dead In Hi-Desert Plane Crash

A pilot expected to arrive in Palm Springs was killed after the aircraft he was in crashed in the high desert, San Bernardino Sheriff’s officials said.

The wreckage of the plane was found around 1:30 PM on Copper Mountain just east of Roy Williams Airport.

The Sheriff’s Department is trying to determine whether the crashed plane was also the same one reported missing from the Big Bear Airport on Tuesday.

Authorities have identified the pilot as a 72-year-old man from Yucca Valley but no name has been released.

There’s no immediate word on how the plane came down.

An investigation is underway.
