City Of Palm Springs – Mayor

Five candidates are each hoping to replace Mayor Ron Oden in Tuesday’s election, promising to revitalize downtown Palm Springs if elected.

City Councilman Steve Pougnet, 44, a real estate agent, said he would continue to work on revitalizing downtown while improving neighborhood safety and energy conservation.

Arlene Battishill, 47, a regional development manager, wants to revitalize downtown without relying on new taxes from residential developments or destroying the city’s natural beauty.

The other candidates are Don Cook, a retired plumbing contractor; Bill Ferra, a retired banker; and John Tymon, a singer and songwriter.
