Two Dead After Head-On Crashes On Highway 62

A pair of deadly accidents along Highway 62 Sunday included a head-on collision near Morongo Valley that killed one man.

One accident happened around 8:30 AM.

The CHP says a car crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed into a semi-truck.

Police say the driver of the car was killed instantly. The truck driver managed to escape unharmed.

The victim’s identity has not been released. Highway 62 was closed for about an hour as crews cleaned up and investigated the scene.

A 33-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Twentynine Palms early Sunday morning.

Authorities say just after midnight, the woman tried to cross Highway 62 near Desert Quail Drive when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

The victim name has not been released died at the scene.

There were no reports of any other injuries.
