Teen Robberies

An 18-year-old Palm Desert High School student and his 17-year-old girlfriend were in custody Wednesday in connection to a string of burglaries, including a theft that occurred at the school last year, authorities said.

Cory Trudo was booked into the Indio Jail on Tuesday afternoon on several counts of suspicion of burglary and conspiracy, said Sgt. James Armstrong of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Trudo’s girlfriend, whose name was withheld because of her age, was booked into Indio Juvenile Hall for the same charges, Armstrong added.

The pair was taken into custody following the service of two search warrants in the 77600 block of Edinborough Street, near Sussex Street, around 1 p.m. Tuesday. During the search, Palm Desert police investigators recovered property stolen during previous residential and vehicle burglaries, Armstrong said.

The two search warrants stemmed from an extensive investigation of a burglary that occurred at Palm Desert High School near the end of last year, a crime in which the couple had been identified as suspects, Armstrong said.

Anyone with information on the two suspects or the burglaries was asked to call Investigator Angelica Navarro with the Palm Desert Police Department at (760) 836-1600.
