Police Investigate Shooting In Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS (CNS) – An investigation was under way today into the fatalshooting of a 25-year-old man during a fight in Palm Springs, police said. Palm Springs police received a report of a fight between several mennear the intersection of Sunrise Way and Amado Road around 6:50 p.m. Thursday,Palm Springs police Sgt. Mitch Spike said. A short time later, the caller told police that one combatant armedhimself with a gun, and someone had been shot, Spike said. When officers arrived, they discovered a critically injured mansuffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Spike said. The victim was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he waspronounced dead, Spike said. His name was not immediately released. Following the shooting, police learned that the victim lived at anapartment complex near the intersection — Continental Gardens at 300 N.Sunrise Way, he said. The gunman was reportedly dating a woman that was associated with thevictim, Spike said. The investigation also revealed that the assailant fought with thevictim before he retrieved a handgun from his vehicle, and according towitnesses, the gunman then fired at least six rounds toward the victim,striking him multiple times, Spike said.
