Desert Regional Claims Desert’s First Birth Of ’09
The Desert’s first New Year’s baby was born at 2:49a.m. in Palm Springs.
Camila Marquez was born at Desert Regional Medical Center. Parents Alejandra and Francisco are from Salton City. Baby Camila is in good health and weighs at 7 pounds, 4 ounces.
“I hope she can be a good student, she can graduate, she can go to college or university,” said her mother who was in labor for five hours. “Whatever she wants to do. Whatever she wants to be. She has everything from me.”
Both Desert Regional and JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio have a friendly competition each year to see who will have the first New Year’s baby. JFK’s first delivery came at 5:33 AM. Yoseleen Hernandez was born to Vanessa Robledo and Efrain Hernandez.
