Towing Company Burns In North Indio

“We were way down the street and we happened to see the flames go up in the air and you could see all the red,” said Indio resident Jose Morales.

“It was at about11 p.m. My grandmother called me and I came here right away and saw the building on fire. It was pretty bad on this side over here,” said R&R Towing business owner Bogdan Wood said.

TheR&RTowing buildingin Indio went up in flames Sunday night. Firefighters responded and put the fire out in about an hour. The following dayWood helped clean up the messleft behind.

“I was just thinking if all the cars got burned in there and just hoping they would put it out as soon as they can,” Wood said.

The fire also completely destroyed seven impounded vehicles being stored. The owner’s personal garage and office space were not affected.

“I mean, it’s basically like everything to us so, we make a profit out of it, make a living out of this business and it’s a good business…we’re just going to try to clean this place up right now and I guess we’ll get the insurance, see what they can do about the cars and about the building and try to get the repairs and stuff done,” said Wood.

One firefighter hurt his knee while trying to put out the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
