Fighting The Poor Economy With A Real Fight

RANCHO MIRAGE – Desert businesses are battling the weak economy, but a real fight may help.

It’s the first event of it’s kind at Aqua Caliente’s “The Show.” Timothy Bradley takes on Nate Campbell in a world championship boxing match, attracting thousands of fans including some celebrities.

” There will be some TV stars and some sports celebrities,” says Phil Cooper, Aqua Caliente Band Of Cahuilla Indians. ” There will be a lot of energy and a lot of recognizable faces.”

At the event there will be no room to spare, all of the 2,200 seats will be full. Over at the hotel portion of Aqua Caliente, all 340 rooms are booked. This weekend has been sold out for the past few months.

” It’s been successful for us,” says Cooper.

From room reservations, food and beverage, ticket sales and of course, gambling; the resort will rake in millions. Surrounding businesses will also share in the spotlight.

” I think you’ll see a ripple effect where it brings revenue to our neighbors,” says Cooper. ” When we are full, people will buy hotels rooms somewhere else.”

This internationally broadcasted fight gives the valley extreme exposure.

” The more people see us on tv, the more they want to come out and sample our product,” says Cooper.

As final preparations for the big fight are made, event organizers are excited to knock out some of the financial stress.

” We are not here to solve the economic crisis in the valley, but bringing top entertainment and more people to the valley will do a little good for everybody,” says Cooper.
