Emergency Shelter Setup After Electrical Fire In Cathedral City
CATHEDRAL CITY – Hundreds of residents from the Sky Valley Mobile Home Park were told to go to Workman Middle School in Cathedral City after an electrical fire shutoff all power to the mobile home park.
The fire happened just before 5 p.m.Monday.According to firefighters and residents, the electrical swtich boxes and lines caught fire sending flames shooting into the air and catching nearby bushes on fire.
“We’ve had problems in the past when residents overloaded the power,” mobile park manager Sharond Gadley said. “They run more than they are supposed to.”
The power will be out for at least a day while electricians fix the boxes and lines. Power is expected to be on by 1 p.m. Tuesday.
