Yucaipa Fire Contained; Crews Getting Better Hold Of Oak Glen Fire

OAK GLEN – Authorities say they’ve contained an 860-acre wildfire that forced the evacuation of hundreds of homes in San Bernardino County.

State fire spokesman Gregg Bratcher says higher humidity helped firefighters surround the blaze in Yucaipa early Thursday. At its peak, the blaze about 90 miles east of Los Angeles forced 2,100 people to evacuate.

The fire damaged a house and burned an outbuilding.

A few miles away, a fire near unincorporated Oak Glen was 90 percent contained at 1,159 acres. Bratcher says that fire destroyed one home, damaged another and burned an outbuilding.

At its height, that fire threatened 2,000 homes.

However, both fires have been quiet for a day and all evacuations have been canceled.
