Mulch Piles Catch Fire At Blixseth Property In Rancho Mirage

RANCHO MIRAGE – Heavy smoke was visible in Rancho Mirage as three to four large mulch piles were on fire at the property owned by the affluent Blixseth family.

Witness calling into the News Channel 3 newsroom reported heavy smoke at the property near Indian Trail and Dunes View Roads just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

CalFire confirmed the flames were on Porcupine Cove property owned by Edra and Tim Blixseth.

No structures were threatened in the blaze. Fire officials say crews will be on scene for several hours for a heavy mop-up. No injuries were reported.

The Blixseths have been in the news recently as they dealt with the bankruptcy and sale of their luxury winter retreat the Yellowstone Club in Montana.
