House Catches Fire In Mecca
MECCA – Fire crewscontained a25 acre brush fire that burned in the east valley. The fire started aftera mobile home caught fire on the 64000 block of Lincoln Street near Avenue 64 in Mecca Monday just before 3 p.m.
More than 145firefightersbattled the blaze, which grew to 25 acres in just a few hours.The double-wide mobile home on the Sunset Ranch property was destroyed. At one point, the brush fire threatened the Sunset Ranch Clubhouse anda ranch house on the property.
The mobile home was abandoned and the manager of the property, Abel Varela, believes the fire was started by a homeless person inside the vacant mobile home.
