Desert Sands Unified Won’t Shut Down For Swine Flu

PALM DESERT -News Channel 3 has been getting calls from parents worried about cases of the swine flu in our local schools.

Here’s what we can tell you: Desert Sands Unified School District leaders say they have had students with confirmed cases; however, this should not cause panic.

Once a student shows flu-like symptoms, they are immediately sent home.

The district is following all guidelines sent down from Riverside County Health Department.

And this year, schools will not close down due to confirmed cases, instead sick children are sent home and can not return until they are healthy.
