It happened around 3:15pm Tuesday afternoon at Caupain’s home on Camino Del Oro.

Neighbors came to her aid and waited for paramedics to arrive, possibly saving her life, according to authorities. She was rushed off to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police later arrested Caupain inside the home without incident. No one else was inside at the time of the stabbing.

Neighbors watched in horror, wondering what happened. It’s a close knit community and they say their hearts go out to the victim.

“Even though we don’t know them we do care about our neighbors. Hopefully she’s ok and they can resolve whatever’s going on inside that house,” says nearby resident Dina Armstrong.

The Sheriff’s Department wants residents to know the neighborhood is safe. They caught the suspect and their investigation continues.
