Presenters Almost Out-Star Award Winners
PALM SPRINGS – The list of presenters at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala looks just as stunning as the list of honorees.
Michelle Pfeiffer will present the Desert Palm Achievement Award to Jeff Bridges for “Crazy Heart.” Morgan Freeman will hand off the Career Achievement Award to Helen Mirren for her role in “The Last Station.” Director Rob Marshall will be presenting the Desert Palm Achievement Award to Marion Cotillard, one of the stars from “Nine.” Clint Eastwood will give the Career Achievement Award to Morgan Freeman for “Invictus.” Norman Jewison will present the director of the year award to Jason Reitman for his film, “Up in the Air.” Shohreh Aghdashloo will be giving the Breakthrough Actor Performance Award to Jeremy Renner for “The Hurt Locker.” Director Lee Daniels will be giving the Breakthrough Actress Performance Award to Mariah Carey for her role in “Precious.”
Film festival officials say asurprise guest will present the Frederick Loewe Award for Film Composing to T Bone Burnett.
The presenters for Quentin Tarantino, who will receive the Sonny Bono Visionary Award, and Anna Kendrick, recipient of the Rising Star Award, are still to be determined.
Rob Marshall will stay for the screening of his movie “Nine” on January 6th, and take questions from the audience.
