Friday: Cleanup Day From Week Of Torrential Rain

PALM DESERT – The mountain areas are still under a flash flood watch and a winter weather advisory, but it appears most of the stormy weather for the Coachella Valley is in our rear-view mirror.

Last night, a possible tornado swept through Blythe and surrounding areas, sending debris flying.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says 82,000 Californians are still without electricity as the state begins efforts to recover from a week of devastating storms.

The governor held a news conference on Friday where he also declared a state of emergency for San Bernardino County, making it available for state reimbursement for much of its storm damage and cleanup costs. Five other counties already have that designation.

The governor says California has been pounded by winter storms that caused at least two deaths.
