Field Poll: Calif. Got Worse Under Schwarzenegger

SACRAMENTO – A new Field Poll suggests a bleak view of California politicians.

The poll, released Sunday, finds that 59 percent of California voters believe when Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger leaves office, the state will be in worse shape than when he was elected in 2003.

Only 7 percent of registered voters think he will leave the state in better condition.

The poll also found just 27 percent of those surveyed approve of the job Schwarzenegger is doing.

The Legislature fared even worse. Voters gave lawmakers an approval rating of 16 percent.

Poll director Mark DiCamillo said views of the governor and Legislature are negative among all demographics.

The Field Poll surveyed 1,232 registered voters in California from Jan. 5-17. It has a margin of sampling error of 2.9 percentage points.
