Palm Desert Softball Coach: Out!

PALM DESERT -Palm Desert High School is without a girls varsity softball coachafter the Desert Sand Unified School District fired their current coach Ashley Nieto.

This allcomes after a criminal investigation accused Neito’s husband, Ronald, who is a registered sex offender, of volunteering with the girls softball team without the school’s permission.

We brought you theoriginal news as it broke on October 28th of last year.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Departmentconducted their own investigation, and the DA’s office charged him with 3 misdemeanors.

The school district alsoinvestigated for several months, and they tell me in the end, they found that Ronald Nieto, a registered sex offender, was in fact acting as a volunteer, doing such things as keeping score in the dugout andassisting with batting practice and managing field equipment.

Ronald Nietopled guilty in 1998 to lewd acts with a child. The childis now his current wife: the former coach of the girls softball team Ashley Nieto. At the time Ashley was 14, Nieto was 39.
