Officer-Involved Shooting In Yucca Valley

YUCCA VALLEY – Shots broke the early morning quiet in Yucca Valley, this morning, as part of a chase in the high desert involving the California Highway Patrol.

Two CHP officers believed they saw a stolen Jeep, and chased after the driver.

Eventually, the driver stopped at a house on Sunnyslope Drive, and tried to run from the officers. That’s when one or both of the CHP offices opened fire.

The suspect, 29-year-old Rody Bond of Brawley, sustained minor injuries. He was arrested, and treated and released from the hospital.

He faces charges of car theft and assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.
