Tour De Palm Springs Underway

PALM SPRINGS – Around 9,000 cyclists areriding through the Coachella Valley today for the 12th annual Tour de Palm Springs.

The 100-mile bike ride starts in Palm Springs and winds through the entire Coachella Valley. Among the riders will be Olympic gold medalist Kristin Armstrong.

The bike ride, which benefits local charities, kick off at 7 a.m. from a starting point at the Spa Resort Casino.

Riders can choose from several routes ranging from five to 100 miles.

No vehicles will be allowed on Calle Encilia between Amado and Alejo roads until after 9 p.m.

Northbound Indian Canyon Way will be reduced to one lane from Amado to Tachevah roads between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., according to Blaisdell.
