Golden Age Of Musicals Star Kathryn Grayson Dies At 88

LOS ANGELES -Kathryn Grayson, whose beauty and lilting soprano voice brightened some of the most popular movie musicals of the 1940s and ’50s, has died. She was 88.

Grayson’s longtime companion and secretary, Sally Sherman, says the actress died Wednesday of natural causes at her Los Angeles home.

Grayson starred in such popular MGM musicals as “Anchors Aweigh,” “Showboat” and “Kiss Me Kate.”

The actress, who was married and divorced twice, is survived by daughter, Patricia Towers, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sherman says there will be no funeral service.
