Schwarzenegger Hits Back At GOP Opposed To Stimulus

WASHINGTON – California’s Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is hitting back at members of his party for attacking President Barack Obama’s economic recovery plan.

Schwarzenegger says last year’s $862 billion stimulus plan is “terrific” and has created 150,000 jobs in his state and says that Republicans who criticize the recovery measure while seeking stimulus dollars for their states and congressional districts are playing politics.

Opposition to the stimulus plan is nearly universal among top national Republicans like former presidential candidate Mitt Romney – who says it hasn’t created private sector jobs – and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who calls Obama’s plan a big waste of money.

Schwarzenegger made his comments on ABC’s “This Week.”
