Man Accused Of Selling Stolen Golf Clubs Online
PALM DESERT -A Buena Park man was behind bars today on suspicion of trying to sell several sets of stolen golf clubs on Ebay, a sheriff’s sergeant said.
Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle burglary on Saturday morning at the Desert Springs Marriott Villas in Palm Desert, said Sgt. David Florez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
John Kang and seven other friends were visiting Palm Desert from New York and New Jersey and had left eight sets of clubs, worth about $52,000, in a rental van, Florez said.
On Monday, investigators got a tip from a relative of one of the victims who said that Kang’s clubs were being sold on Ebay by Gene Hae Park, 42, according to Florez.
Investigators then arranged a meeting with Park in Buena Park, Florez said.
Park was arrested when the clubs were identified as the set stolen in the Palm Desert burglary, Florez said.
A search of the suspect’s home turned up in two additional sets of stolen clubs, the sergeant said.
Park was booked on suspicion of possessing stolen property.
Investigators believe Park had all eight sets of clubs and was working with an accomplice, Florez said.
