Vacation time is a time for relaxation. Don’t let yours be ruined by crime. Follow these crime prevention tips, and enjoy yourself on your much deserved trip.

Before You Leave

Make your house appear “lived in.” Use timers for lights and radios. Have a neighbor or friend pick up your mail and newspapers.

Never leave your house key hidden under a mat or planter

Leave your trip plans and an emergency number with friends or family

Install good locks on all the doors and windows, and make sure they’re locked before you leave

Engrave your valuables with your driver’s license number of another number. DO NOT USE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.

Be sure your alarm system is working properly. Set it before you leave.
