Valley Transportation To L.A. Immigration Rally

Immigrant rights activists hope a controversial immigration law in Arizona will draw scores of people to protest in May 1 rallies and add urgency to a plea for federal immigration reform.

Dozens of marches are planned Saturday in cities across the country.

Activists say they’re fed up that there hasn’t been any movement on federal immigration reform and fear other states could pass legislation like Arizona’s, which makes it a state crime to be in the United States illegally.

Activists hope opposition to the law could be the catalyst needed to draw the same record-breaking crowds on Saturday as there were in 2006.

That’s when more than a million across the country united to fight federal legislation considered anti-immigrant.
