18 Arrested in Palm Desert Sweep

Eighteen people with misdemeanor drunken driving warrants were arrested during a sweep that ended today.

The Palm Desert Police Traffic Team, which is made up of two sergeants, a motorcycle unit and several traffic collision investigators, conducted the sweep, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Bianco. Police attempted to serve 174 active DUI warrants during the sweep, he said.

The suspects were booked at the Indio Jail, Bianco said.

The sweep was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety aiming to track down elusive suspects, he said.
