‘Oldest Performing Showgirl’ Gets Star In Palm Springs
The “world’s oldest performing showgirl” will be honored with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars later this month.
Dorothy Dale Kloss, 85, will receive the 330th Golden Palm Star at a May 29 ceremony at 128 S. Palm Canyon Drive, said Robert Alexander, president of the Walk of Stars.
Kloss is known as the “World’s Oldest Still-Performing Showgirl” in the Guinness Book of World Records. She began performing 14 years ago with “The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies,” which features a cast that ranges in age from 55 to 85.
Kloss began her career in Chicago, where she taught famed choreographer Bob Fosse how to tap dance. She was catapulted to stardom with her own show at the Empire Room in the Palm House Hotel.
She went on to perform across the country with personalities such as Liberace, Mel Torme, Howard Keel, Kay Starr and Frankie Laine.
