Daughter Gets Married In Palm Springs Hospital, So Father Can See

The daughter of a terminally ill Joshua Tree man will get married this afternoon in the chapel of a Palm Springs hospital so that the stage four cancer patient can witness the ceremony, a spokesman said.

Terry Lukens, 66, is being treated for an inoperable brain tumor at Desert Regional Medical Center, where the 5 p.m. ceremony is set to take place, said hospital spokesman Rich Kerlin.

The bride, 30-year-old Carlotta Lukens, and her fiance moved up the wedding date from Sept. 5 to make sure her father can see his daughter tie the knot, Kerlin said.

Lukens’ bridesmaids were en route to Palm Springs to participate in the ceremony, according to Kerlin.
