Major Accident Shut Down Highway 111 In Mecca

A motorist was injured today in a head-on crash in Mecca that blocked traffic for over an hour, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 7:42 a.m. at Grapefruit Boulevard at state Route 195.

Passing motorists told the CHP that a sedan and an SUV crashed head-on and the SUV overturned.

A motorist was taken to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital to be checked out for a complaint of pain to the knee.

All lanes of the highway were blocked, but were cleared by around 9:30 a.m., according to the CHP.
