Traffic Alert: I-10 Fwy To Shut Down Completely For Two Days

Riverside County Department of Transportation will be performing closures of I-10 at Palm Drive / Gene Autry Trail on the nights of June 30, 2010 and July 1, 2010.

Westbound lanes at the Palm Drive exit are expected to begin closing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, with all lanes expected to be closed by 9 p.m., according to CHP Officer Ramon Perez.

Detours will be posted, and westbound lanes should reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday.

Starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, the CHP will start closing eastbound lanes, which should reopen about 4 a.m. Friday, Perez said.

During the closure, CHP will be directing motorists off of the freeway at the Palm Drive / Gene Autry Trail exit and back on the onramp. Motorists are advised to avoid the construction area during the specified hours in order to help minimize congestion.

This work is part of the $33 million project awarded to Skanska that will replace the existing Palm Drive / Gene Autry Trail bridge with a new six-lane overcrossing.
