Two More Arrests Made In Theater Robbery

Palm Desert police say they have made two more arrests in connection with a mugging outside of the Cinemas Palm D’Or at Westfield Shopping Town on Wednesday.

Witnesses say a man took a backpack full of money from a woman outside the theater, jumped a nearby wall into a residential neighborhood, and drove off. Those witnesses called police with identifying details of the car.

A nearby patrol car was able to pull the car over, and arrest the suspect. Twenty-seven-year-old Dionesio Samuel Layson of Cathedral City was booked into the Indio jail.

Since the arrest, Palm Desert police say the investigation led them to two other persons of interest: David Michael Layson, a 26 year old Desert Hot Springs resident, and Tazjarae Marie Calderon, a 27 year old Cathedral City resident.

Both were brought in for questioning on Wednesday, and later booked in the Indio jail for conspiring to commit the robbery. Police searched David Layson’s home Wednesday evening.

This investigation is on going and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Palm Desert Police Investigations at 760-836-1600 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 760-341-STOP.
